WELCOME, NORTH CAROLINA (May 4, 2022) – Big Machine Racing announced today that NASCAR Cup Series driver Tyler Reddick will join their NASCAR Xfinity Series driver lineup this season beginning this weekend at Darlington Raceway for the Mahindra Roxor 200 on Saturday, May 7 at 1:30P ET on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. 
 
This weekend’s No. 48 Big Machine Vodka SPIKED Coolers Chevrolet will pay homage to NASCAR Hall of Famer Bobby Allison as part of Darlington Throwback Weekend and celebrate the 50th anniversary of his 1972 Southern 500 victory. 
 
“We are honored to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Bobby Allison’s 1972 Southern 500 win. The design has always been a fan favorite and we’re thrilled to have former Xfinity Series champ Tyler Reddick behind the wheel. Tyler is a wheel-man and this is his kind of track,” said Big Machine Racing team owner Scott Borchetta.
 
The legend himself, Bobby Allison, says, “that’s one good looking car. It is a very nice compliment and it would be good to see it (back) in Victory Lane!”
 
Reddick, who pilots the No. 8 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet full-time in the Cup Series, is a two-time Xfinity Series champion (2018, 2019) and will bring a lot of experience and knowledge with him. Big Machine Racing is an alliance partner of Richard Childress Racing and share the same engine through ECR. All three organizations are located on the same campus in Welcome, North Carolina.
 
“I’m really excited to get back in an Xfinity Series car and it’s even cooler that I get to do it for Darlington Throwback Weekend. I’ve always loved that weekend because it honors our sport’s legends, like Bobby Allison. Big Machine Racing put together a really awesome looking car, and Bobby Allison is not only a NASCAR Hall of Famer but a NASCAR icon. I hope we can get this hot rod in Victory Lane on the 50thanniversary of his Southern 500 win. Thanks to Big Machine Racing’s alliance with Richard Childress Racing, our Chevy will certainly be fast and I’m hoping we can get that No. 48 up front. Reddick will also pilot the No. 48 at Texas Motor Speedway later this month and additional races will be announced at a later date.
