NASHVILLE, TN (February 12, 2016) – TARA THOMPSON embraces flying solo until the right partner – or at least partner in crime – comes along. The newcomer heats up Valentine’s Day weekend, premiering the music video for her debut single “Someone To Take Your Place” across CMT, CMT Music and CMT.com today. Watch now: TaraThompson.CMT.com. Armed with unapologetic confidence and a bar full of “suitors,” the petite songstress teased photos earlier this week on Facebook. Tara penned the TK McKamy-directed video alongside producer Alex Kline and songwriter Leslie Satcher.
One of the “10 New Country Artists You Need to Know,” Rolling Stone dubbed Tara a “Loretta Lynn for the Instagram generation.” The fiery East Tennessee native hit the ground running as the new year began, being named a Spotify Spotlight on 2016 artist. Just in time for Singles Awareness Day, Tara offers a cheeky alternative to the typical February 14 lovers’ holiday, dancing atop pool tables and kick-starting the dating game among Maytag washers, bikers and 18-wheeler trucks.
“Filming my first music video was so much fun, and I love getting to launch it with CMT! I had a blast with the biker dudes, joking around on set,” shared Tara. “It’s the sassiest song I’ve written, and I hope it provides a fun twist for Valentine’s Day…and that Country radio plays it next Monday!”
The “take-charge debut single” (Music Row) will impact radio February 22, following a successful week at Nashville’s Country Radio Seminar. Sharing her unfiltered spin on life experiences, Tara “…brings a traditional country twang missing from females on the radio” (Taste of Country). She is currently on the road opening for Jennifer Nettles on the CMT Next Women of Country Tour, which stops this weekend in Wendover, NV (2/12), Beaver Creek, CO (2/13), and Colorado Springs, CO (2/14).
