STEEL GUITAR AND STRIPPED-DOWN VOCALS DELIVER AN ENTIRELY NEW EXPERIENCE OF THEIR BIGGEST HITS ON NEW RECORD
 

THE LA-BASED ROCKERS ANNOUNCE TOUR DATES WITH RIVAL SONS BEGINNING IN MAY

LOS ANGELES, CA (March 10, 2023) – Starcrawler is trading in their signature raucous riffs for twangy tones with the release of their new Acoustic Sessions EP. Steel guitars and stripped-down vocals transform some of their biggest hits into entirely different experiences that find the LA-based rockers sounding more Music City than City of Angels.

“Usually when we write songs, they start out acoustic and then we make them heavy, once all the parts are figured out,” frontwoman Arrow de Wilde explains. “On our last tour, we got asked to do a couple acoustic shows at record stores, which we’d never done before. So we decided to bring some of the songs back to the way they were when we wrote them. It made us realize that there’s something so special about those versions. We’re not an acoustic band by any means, but we wanted to share the experience of hearing the songs in a completely different setting than people are used to.”

Alongside guitarist Henri Cash with brother Bill Cash on pedal steel/guitar, drummer Seth Carolina, and bassist Tim Franco, de Wilde and Starcrawler have fully leaned into their own epic vision of a contemporary Hollywood Babylon. Morphing into a modern-day take on LA legends X, with a sprinkle of The Go-Go’s, a smattering of The Distillers, and some Rolling Stones sleaze thrown in for good measure, the outfit released their major label debut, She Said, via Big Machine Records in 2022. The album received praise from SPIN, NME, i-D, and Consequence of Sound, among others.

In addition to their own sonic evolution, other new ventures have fed into the ever-evolving Starcrawler, including collaborations with rock legends like Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ guitarist Mike Campbell, as well as the late, great Taylor Hawkins and Perry Farrell. You might have even spotted Arrow’s arresting cameos in music videos for Father John Misty and Florence and the Machine. And after a year of performing on stages around the world with the likes of My Chemical Romance, Jack White, The Smile, and Nick Cave, only time will tell what direction they’ll evolve in next.
