NEW YORK, NY (January 7, 2019) – Southern charmer RILEY GREEN delivered with his national television debut this morning, performing the catchy “There Was This Girl” on NBC’s TODAY. Riley co-penned the Top15-and-rising single, which Rolling Stone Country has described as “Drinks-in-the-air Nineties country at an Alabama vs. Auburn tailgate” while Taste of Country declared, “Riley Green is the newcomer to see,” and he “is clearly an artist on the cusp of stardom.” Watch Now:https://www.today.com/video/watch-riley-green-perform-there-was-this-girl-on-today-1421195331879.
Adding to the momentum of his 2018 Grand Ole Opry debut and broadening his fanbase with the release of IN A TRUCK RIGHT NOW EP on BMLG Records, Riley is poised for a big 2019. As he told Hoda on TODAY, now that he has played the Grand Ole Opry, “my grandparents finally think I’m famous.”
Riley is currently headlining his OUTLAWS LIKE US TOUR, was selected as a member of the Opry’s NextStage Program and has been named for both CMT’s Listen Up Artists as well as MusicRow’s 2019 Next Big Things. Fueled with good-natured rebellion, respect for tradition and steady touring throughout the Southeast, his music has tallied over 71 million streams to date as he has built a fierce following on social media and at live shows.
Billboard recently praised his work ethic in an interview saying “Green describes his success as ‘accidental,’ which is perhaps his humble Southern way of saying he simply put in the work the old-fashioned way. No gimmicks, no viral moments, no co-signs from a more established artist, just playing shows — a lot of them.”
