NEW YORK, NY (August 28, 2019) – GRAMMY-nominated MIDLAND hit New York this week for a media blitz in celebration of their critically acclaimed sophomore album, LET IT ROLL (Big Machine Records). The trio performed lead single “Mr. Lonely” to a packed crowd in the Rockefeller Center Plaza before stopping by Billboard Live where they announced a portion of the “53rd Annual CMA Award” nominees of which they are nominated for New Artist of the Year and Vocal Group of the Year.

Continuing their Big Apple takeover, the band will connect directly with fans on Thursday (8/29) for LET IT ROLL: LIVE FROM NYC which will feature a special Q+A and live performance at the NY YouTube Space.

Upon releasing their sophomore album LET IT ROLL last week (8/23), the hard-working Texas natives cited by The New York Times for their “retro country elegance” has been praised with major features onEntertainment WeeklyRolling StoneVarietyThe TenneeseanEsquireWWD and NPR, which afforded the album a rare “First Listen.”

Early reviews are praising LET IT ROLL –

“The country band’s second album is as clever as it is nostalgic, mixing witty spins on Conway Twitty-style cheating songs with ’70s mellow gold.” – Variety

“But the guys in Midland — who are all singers, songwriters, instrumentalists and arrangers and work closely with their producers Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne and Dann Huff — put their biggest stamp on their music with their craftsmanship.” – NPR

“…like a road trip soundtracked by the Allman Brothers and really good weed. The harmonies are warm and exact, with Wystrach’s Keith Whitley-esque vocals deep and sometimes rolling into a tongue-in-cheek growl, to remind us that music is also supposed to be fun. It’s a fully realized and seriously executed work that’s never entirely serious… There are echoes of Chris Isaak, and California sheen…classic country cheating songs, but with a different perspective: sexy, too, and a little sleazy.” – Rolling Stone

“…a natural extension of its acclaimed 2017 debut On the Rocks, which spawned the hits “Drinkin’ Problem” and “Burn Out.” Every element is rooted a little deeper: the lyrical imagery, the crispness of the instrumentation, and the harmonies of members Mark Wystrach, Jess Carson, and Cameron Duddy that toggle between pristine precision and gloriously raggedy edges like artfully-ripped jeans.” – Entertainment Weekly

“With sounds as well-worn as the barstool its protagonist refuses to abandon—think warm, Dwight Yoakam-esque country and swirling, Laurel Canyon folk…” – Esquire

“With 14 songs that manage to be retro and contemporary, current and ageless, happy and heartbreaking, the collection will have people talking.” – The Tennesseean

“…this fun-loving trio threads the needle between old-school honky-tonk country and soft-rock ear candy, with big hooks and harmonies.” – HITS

Having again teamed with the esteemed production superteam of Dann Huff, Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne, LET IT ROLL may be the understatement of the year. At a time when Country seems to be leaning back into its ‘70s and ‘90s roots, Midland continues deeper onto the path they’ve blazed since dropping “Drinkin’ Problem.” They’ve just leaned even deeper into the kind of classic Country themes that embrace moral weakness, carnal pleasure and the way nothing soothes a rubbed raw reckoning like a jukebox song.

Spending the last three years on the road headlining and supporting some of country music’s biggest stars like George Strait, Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw and Little Big Town, Midland has grown from bar band to major crowd pleasers. They will kick off their LET IT ROLL TOUR September 17 in New York City at Terminal 5 with dates traversing the globe throughout the fall.
