Singer/Songwriter To Perform at Nashville Songwriter Awards Next Month
NASHVILLE, TN (August 2, 2024) – Rising Country singer/songwriter Mackenzie Carpenter is wholly in her element in her new song “Boots On.” Out today via The Valory Music Co., the unabashedly flirty, clever and twangy track finds the young talent lovesick, craving some kisses and trying her hardest to coax her beau back home. Tempting her man to play hooky by living out what many a man’s daydreams are made of, Carpenter cheekily tries to rope him in with what she is…or isn’t wearing.

The toe-tapping track, with its playful charm and familiar bouncy beat, plays out like a scene from a Rom Com and would be right at home on any Kate Hudson movie soundtrack. Written by Carpenter alongside award-winning singer/songwriter Rhett Akins and frequent collaborators Brandon Hood and Ben Williams, “Boots On” is an irresistibly catchy plea sure to be stuck in your head all summer.
“I wrote ‘Boots On’ in my honeymoon era, so that season was a big inspiration for this one,” shares Carpenter. “It’s such a fun, flirty tune that my hubby sure does love and I hope y’all do too!”
Carpenter has been penning bold, tell-it-like-it-is songs with some of Country music’s hottest talents for years and has been selected to perform at NSAI’s 7th annual Nashville Songwriter Awards on September 24. Fans have heard her songwriting chops on songs including Lily Rose’s 2021 No. 1 hit “Villain” and Megan Moroney’s Top 15 single “I’m Not Pretty” and new fan-favorite tracks “Indifferent” and “28th of June.” Her songwriting was most recently on display in her new track “Only Girl” which was released in June to rave reviews.

ABOUT MACKENZIE CARPENTER:
Hailing from the small town of Hull, GA, Mackenzie Carpenter is the spunky blonde girl-next-door that fell in love with music as a kid, writing alongside her brothers and singing in church. Years later, the outspoken singer-songwriter is breaking the mold for small-town women by writing and singing her truth, armed with the knowledge that everyone has a little bit of “hot mess” in them, no matter how shiny the book cover may seem. With an upbringing consisting of a rowdy support system, back porch hootenannies and juicy drama, the affable and kind Carpenter also embraces the crazy and “tacky” aspects that make life more interesting. She kickstarted her career as a songwriter for Lily Rose’s 2021 No. 1 hit “Villain,” and has since co-written songs including Top 15 single “I’m Not Pretty” and new fan-favorite tracks “Indifferent” and “28th of June” with breakout star Megan Moroney all while starting her own career as an artist. Fans are loving SiriusXM Highway find, “Can’t Nobody,” TikTok viral, “Huntin’ Season,” vulnerable “Jesus, I’m Jealous” and girl’s girl anthem, “Don’t Mess With Exes.” Her track “Throw You Back” was also thrown into the mix on the artist’s self-titled debut EP, putting her cheeky yet nuanced songwriting ability on full display across the five songs. Additionally, Carpenter channeled her inner Cyndi Lauper, adding just enough country twang to an ‘80s classic in “Country Girls (Just Wanna Have Fun)” last year. Since signing her first record deal with The Valory Music Co. in 2022, Mackenzie has been named to Spotify’s Hot Country 2024 Artists To Watch, CMT’s Next Women of Country class of 2023, Nashville Briefing’s Artists To Watch 2023 and many more spotlight programs. She has opened for talents like Miranda Lambert, Megan Moroney, Jake Owen, Parker McCollum, Craig Campbell, and Ryan Hurd. Last summer, the rising star took the stage at major events like CMA Fest, Country Thunder, Tortuga Music Festival, Stagecoach and made her Grand Ole Opry debut.
