MAPCO’s Artist of the Month Joins Cole Swindell’s TWELVE TOUR Beginning October 12
NASHVILLE, TN (October 2, 2023) – Breakout singer/songwriter Greylan James’ thrilling debut single “Young Man” is the sound of an artist finding his footing: honest, relatable and earnest. The acoustic-anchored, story-song Greylan penned alongside esteemed Nashville songwriters Jacob Davis and Josh Miller, spills the tale of a younger man finding wisdom in the teachings of his elders. “If it ain’t good for your soul / tell it where to go man / Make crazy friends, fall in crazy love / ‘Cause that’s the stuff that keeps you young man,” Greylan sings, and you can hear the palpable joy in his voice as he betters himself in the process. Dedicated to his late grandfather, who long referred to Greylan as “Young Man,” the song is a testament to the rising artist’s wisdom beyond his years and the start of a long artistic journey that’s beginning to bear the fruit of his labors in a major way. “Young Man” is available everywhere now via BMLG Records, listen here.
“I always wanted to write a song that honored my grandfather. He was the one that not only got me started in music but taught me so many things,” Greylan shares. “I think ‘Young Man’ is going to connect with a lot of people and in many ways already has. I’m really proud of this song.”
Since moving to Music City eight years ago, Greylan has become a “celebrated songwriter” (Country Now) earning cuts from some of Country music’s most notable artists including Kenny Chesney, Chris Young, Cole Swindell, Darius Rucker, Chris Janson, Bailey Zimmerman, Breland and more. He most recently notched his first No. 1 song with Jordan Davis’ smash hit “Next Thing You Know,” which is also currently nominated for CMA Awards Song Of The Year, marking Greylan’s first-ever nomination. To date, Greylan’s songbook has amassed more than 650 million streams.
While Greylan has undoubtedly been incredibly successful penning hits for others in the writer’s room, he’s never been more ready to strike out on his own in a major way with his own artistry. “I’m taking a leap of faith and betting on myself,” he says proudly of his burgeoning artist career, which finds him quickly building up a fast-growing fanbase of diehards who now sing his words back to him every night. Greylan adds, “That deep-burning passion about my artistry and my own songs, that’d definitely the driving force of why I wake up every day now.”
After joining Old Dominion on the road over the summer, Greylan heads out on Cole Swindell’s TWELVE TOUR this fall beginning October 12 in Fargo, ND. For a full list of tour dates and more, visit GreylanJames.com.
