NASHVILLE, TN (December 4, 2020) – Filling the silence of loss and sadness with a heartfelt tribute, CARLY PEARCE wrote “Show Me Around” for her champion busbee and his family following the late producer’s unexpected death. The song was penned alongside their frequent collaborator Emily Shackelton and Ben West with powerful lyrics: I bet you’re up there right now / Making plans and writing out / All your favorite places / That you just can’t wait to take us / And we’ll get to spend forever talking ‘bout whatever / When I get there, promise you’ll track me down / And show me around.
“As my mentor and friend, busbee helped me share the parts of my own life that I could only explain through music. He holds such a sweet place in my heart, and I truly hope ‘Show Me Around’ brings comfort to his wife Jess and their three little girls. At his funeral, a songwriter that all of us in Nashville love named Barry Dean gave a speech that painted the most beautiful picture of Heaven. There is no way to ease the pain of losing someone you love, this felt like a really hopeful way to look at our loved ones meeting us again one day and showing us around,” expressed Carly, who earlier this week shared some others’ sweet sentiments upon hearing the track.
Carly will return to the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday (12/5) to perform the song, which she debuted during her 75thappearance in June before concluding with a song special to them both, “Every Little Thing.” The PLATINUM-certified ballad became her first No. 1 and offered a reminder of how honest collaborations can bring light out of darkness. Leading up to the show that night, she will show audiences some of her favorite spots around the legendary venue with an Instagram takeover. Yesterday (12/3), Carly spoke with WSM Radio’s Coffee, Country and Cody about his legacy and embracing the genre from the revered stage. The rich sonic textures she grew up on are also highlighted in her looking-out-for-your-sister cautionary tale, “Next Girl” (Big Machine Records), which is finding solid footing up the Country radio charts.
Tonight (12/4), the Kentucky native who left high school for a job at Dollywood embraces a full circle moment with the Pandora LIVE Holiday Special with Dolly Parton & Friends. RSVP to the free #PandoraLive show airing at 9:00P ET / 8:00P CT via https://pandoralivedollyparton.splashthat.com/CarlyFB.
The music and stories continue on Sunday (12/6) at 10:00P ET/9:00P CT as Carly joins Instrumenthead Live presents Paste Studio on the Road: Nashville. Watch the livestream on Paste’s YouTube channel.
With the most CMA Awards nods for any new artist nominee this year, Carly led with New Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Video of the Year and won Musical Event of the Year for her PLATINUM-certified, No. 1 duet with Lee Brice. The ABC broadcast performance of “I Hope You’re Happy Now” with Charles Kelley of Lady A is also out now. Carly penned the 320+ million-global-streaming track alongside Luke Combs, Jonathan Singleton and Randy Montana. The song was also featured on multiple Billboard year end charts – Hot Country Songs, Country Airplay Songs, Country Streaming Songs – while Carly was listed on Top Country Artists and her self-titled sophomore project landed in Top Country Albums.
