NASHVILLE, TN (November 12, 2021) – Multi-PLATINUM entertainer Brett Young has earned RIAA PLATINUM certification for “Lady,” the chart-topping smash inspired by his expanding family. The song marked Young’s seventh consecutive No. 1 hit to earn PLATINUM or Multi-PLATINUM certification. Written with Ross Copperman and Jon Nite, Young celebrated the milestone this week at BMLG Records’ Nashville office alongside Jimmy Harnen, President/CEO BMLG Records.
As the chart-topping singer/songwriter has “long found great success writing what he knows” (People), Young stretched his creative inspirations alongside collaborators Ashley Gorley, Jon Nite and Jimmy Robbins to capture the heart wrenching jolt of his latest single, “You Didn’t.” A soulful breakup song that “takes the high road,” (CMT.com), the track will be available at Country Radio this Monday, November 15 as it draws in early critical praise:
“A heart-tugging lyric that will pierce anyone”
– MusicRow
“a soul-crushing ballad which closes the album in the same brokenhearted vein as 2017’s ‘Mercy’
– Nashville Lifestyles
“…stepped once again out of their personal experience spheres to construct a heartbreak narrative —
a convincing, relatable track”
– American Songwriter
Deemed a “powerhouse in country music” (Billboard), Young is slated to return to “CMT Crossroads” stage for the first-ever Christmas-themed episode on Wednesday, December 8th at 8p/7c. The 60-minute special will feature Young alongside an all-star lineup of friends and collaborators Boyz II Men, Chris Tomlin, Colbie Caillat, Dann Huff, Darius Rucker, Gavin DeGraw and Maddie & Tae performing renditions of classic Christmas hits from his inaugural holiday album, “Brett Young & Friends Sing the Christmas Classics.”
Young has captured the hearts of fans everywhere through his honest lyrics and West Coast-meets-Southern sound, aptly dubbed “Caliville” style. With an undeniable string of No. 1s and two albums defined by a transcendent romantic spark, he has cemented his status as Country’s master over matters of the heart. The star broadened his emotional scope on WEEKENDS LOOK A LITTLE DIFFERENT THESE DAYS following his GOLD-certified sophomore effort TICKET TO L.A., which debuted atop the Billboard Country Albums chart. Young’s PLATINUM self-titled debut dominated the Top 20 on the Country Albums chart for 37 weeks and has contributed to 5.5 billion streams globally. He was named ASCAP’s 2018 Country Songwriter-Artist of the Year for his “melodic craftsmanship” (Billboard) and has also garnered nominations from ACM, Billboard, Teen Choice, CMT and CMA Awards. Racking seven consecutive chart-toppers, Rolling Stone deemed Young “one of country’s most consistent radio stars.”
