“I just want to thank all of the incredible artists who lent their talents to this project and created such a beautiful tribute to Glen,” shares Campbell’s co-producer and co-writer Julian Raymond. “Creating Ghost on the Canvas with Glen was such an impactful and moving experience— it means a great deal to me that so many people came together to honor him and his reconciliation with his diagnosis. I hope this project continues to inspire hope in those faced with Alzheimer’s.”
Campbell’s original Ghost on the Canvas is the only album written and recorded by someone who was actively battling Alzheimer’s disease. The result was a beautifully vulnerable body of work full of songs that explored complex ideas of hope, reflection, mortality, gratitude, and acceptance of fate. Rolling Stone included it on its list of “The 100 Greatest Country Albums of All Time,” and it’s considered a “museum-quality masterpiece” (USA TODAY) by many. GLEN CAMPBELL DUETS – Ghost on the Canvas Sessions was created out of love and respect for Glen and his beautiful take on the conclusion of his life with the goal of providing hope to others also struggling with Alzheimer’s.
“Over the years, Ghost On the Canvas continued to receive massive acclaim, and accolades continued to pour in for both Glen and this record from the creative community – whether from new artists or the greatest legends in music history,” shared Dave Kaplan.
On Thursday night (4/18), in celebration of the album, guests gathered at the Musicians Hall of Fame & Museum in Nashville to view the all-new Glen Campbell exhibit and attend a panel featuring some of Campbell’s family members, collaborators and friends. The panelists included Julian Raymond, Dave Kaplan, Steve Wariner, Cal Campbell and Kim Campbell. Raymond and Kaplan gave insights about the making of the album while Wariner and the Campbells provided the audience with heartfelt stories of Glen.

What the artists are saying about the project:
“Words cannot express how much I enjoyed blending my voice with Glen’s on this incredibly touching love song. Hard to sing when you’re crying. “
– Carole King on “There’s No Me Without You
“Singing on ‘Ghost on the Canvas allowed me to work with three of my favourite artists, the late Glen Campbell, songwriter Paul Westerberg and the painter Van Gogh. What a treat to be asked to step up to the plate and try to match this stellar line up, a great song, a legendary singer and a divine inspiration. I’m a lucky man.
– Sting
“It was really special to me to be able to be part of this project. Glen was so important to not just Country music, but all of music. What a stallion!”
– Eric Church
“It’s been a great honor to have been invited to sing with Glen on this stunning song, ‘The Long Walk Home.’ His voice is captivatingly beautiful. He is by far one of the best country music artists and vocalists of all time.”
– Hope Sandoval (Mazzy Star)
“I’ve always admired Glen Campbell’s guitar playing and loved his singing. I was moved when one of his final performances, during his illness, recently came on TV. So, when I was asked to sing and play with Glen on the song Jakob Dylan wrote, it all just felt right, and I am happy to be part of it.”
– Eric Clapton on “Nothing But The Whole Wide World”
“You have to understand what this means to me. ‘The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour’ was one of the few shows the whole family gathered around the TV to watch. I actually dreamed of sitting on the couch with him when he jammed with all the other stellar musicians. And now as a grown man singing a duet with him, I look back at that little kid and say you did it! Thank you, Glen, you’ve made it come full circle.”
– Brian Setzer
“Singing anything with Glen Campbell is a great honor, but the song itself, ‘A Better Place,’ was one of the sweetest songs I’ve heard. I was proud to be a part of that.”
– Dolly Parton
“Glen was a great singer and a great guy. Our intention in doing ‘Strong’ was to echo back to ‘Guess I’m Dumb’ and the times that Glen and I worked together. It’s kind of got that vibe to it and I dig the sound of it.”
– Brian Wilson
“It was an absolute honor getting a call from Julian Raymond asking me to sing ‘A Thousand Lifetimes’ with Glen Campbell. Lyrically and melodically, it is a perfect fit for me and how I feel and it’s extremely important to have an emotional connection to anything we do. You can tell by listening to Glen Campbell’s catalog that he sang songs that felt right for him. They were a little left field at times and creatively unexpected. He’s a true example of an artist that is making music for themselves. That’s why the fans loved him, for that honesty.”
– Linda Perry
“I’ve always been a gigantic fan of Glen Campbell’s voice and guitar playing, so I was really honored to be asked to sing on what turned out to be a duet with the late, great Glen.”
– Daryl Hall on “It’s Your Amazing Grace”
“When Dave Kaplan called and asked me to produce ‘It’s Your Amazing Grace’ with Daryl as duet vocalist, the first thing I wanted to do was to solo Glen’s angelic and powerful voice, and then couple that with Daryl’s vocals (one of my favorite singers ever). From there I added as little as possible, with my 12-string acoustic and other minimal touches, to allow the two legends to brightly shine.”
– Dave Stewart
“What an honor and a thrill to sing on a Glen Campbell track! Especially since the song was written by Paul Westerberg. Those are two of my musical heroes. X is so fortunate.”
– Exene Cervenka (X) on “Any Trouble”
“I was so honoured to be asked to cover ‘I’m Not Gonna Miss You.’ It was the last song Glen released, but it is also about his battle with Alzheimer’s, so it was incredibly poignant and personal. When the song came, I said in an interview that I thought it was one of the most beautiful songs that ever heard and that remains the case to this day.”
– Elton John
