NASHVILLE, TN (November 30, 2018) – Southern California rockers BADFLOWER today released “Heroin,” the third offering from their forthcoming debut album OK, I’M SICK – due out February 22, 2019 via Big Machine/John Varvatos Records. Frontman Josh Katz produced and co-wrote “Heroin,” which is ripe with slow burn verses and heavy-hitting choruses that put the band’s versatility on full display. The emotional track is available now to fans who pre-order the album here: https://badflower.lnk.to/OKISWE.
Josh describes the process saying “we took a different approach with this song than the others on the album. We’ve been playing it for so many years and we didn’t want to over-think the production so we decided to self produce the song at our house in the desert in 24 hours. We didn’t want it to sound perfect, we wanted to keep it raw.”
In addition to Josh, “Heroin” was co-written by Joey Morrow, Alex Espiritu, and Anthony Sonetti. Preceding “Heroin” are chart topper “Ghost” and “x ANA x”, initial offerings the band conceptualized alongside the complete set of songs they wrote and recorded for OK, I’M SICK in Los Angeles with executive producer credits attributed to Scott Borchetta and John Varvatos.
As lead single “Ghost” claimed the No. 1 spot on the Active Rock Radio Mediabase Chart and is currently inside the Top 25 at Alt Radio and growing, Badflower has continued to gain traction even beyond the airwaves. Bitingly exposed lyrics and surging delivery have captivated audiences at live shows and with personal responses online as the topic of suicide universally unites so many. Forbes affirms, “‘Ghost’ has connected at the absolute core of where music hits fans.” With an intense performance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Badflower was compelled to record a more intimate version.
